The good pair of ebonised slipper chairs each with turned front legs to rear sabres and ceramic castors, upholstered in a beautiful pale grey linen, one being fully button-backed, the other with just the backrest in button-back to a plain seat, and the wholes surviving from the late nineteenth century.

The chairs are in super overall condition having been re-sprung, re-upholstered and stain proofed.

When it first made its appearance in the early 18th century, this low-slung chair was used in women's bedrooms as seating, and it was often used when maids helped them put on their shoes, or slippers, as they were then often called. Hence the name.

A ready to go pair and perfect for framing a window in that special bedroom.
