The original glorious powder azure blue painted pine carcass, beautifully distressed with age, with a moulded cornice top above an arrangement of three long oak lined drawers, having later primitive wirework handles and original shaped plate escutcheons, to a later added pine plinth base, the whole formerly the lower section of an open wrack dresser, survives from the middle part of nineteenth century Europe.

The chest shows some very attractive wear and tear with scuffing commensurate with its age, and the original paintwork distressed naturally, the top now largely absent of paint, with the drawers all running smoothly and the carcass structurally sound. The handles are clearly later replacements though are charming. The base has been added at some stage in the late 20thC. She proves sturdy and fully serviceable.

Although modified, the cute size, texture and stunning colour of this piece makes it a real standout.
