SOLD
Origin: Unknown
Period: Late 20thC
Provenance: Unknown
Date: c.1980-90
Height: 21.5”
Width: 8.5”
Depth: 12” (all at extremities)

The painted plaster model of a standing hound, hand-made and painted with a repeating pattern of whimsical floral and avian motifs to a lemon yellow ground and seated atop a tufted pillow, the whole surviving from the last quarter of the twentieth century.

Remaining in sound overall condition there is one area of loss to one of the tufted corners as photographed. Elsewhere it remains in good original order.

The way in which this is painted is based on the Italian majolica pottery examples or the faience Galle pieces. It may be by an artist named Leona White but it is unmarked.

A cheerful and attractive piece at a much more affordable price than its majolica counterparts.
