Of unusually small and low proportions the mahogany side table with long frieze drawer and knob handles, bearing ivorine label 'Spillman & Co., St. Martins Lane, London' to the inner drawer, standing on tapering legs and surviving from the first quarter of twentieth century London.

The table is structurally sound and all intact. We cannot find a comparable table by Spillman of this size and it is possible it may have been an apprentice piece.

Starting in the 19th century as a cabinet maker, Spillman and Co. was one of London’s leading furniture dealers by the 1920s and 1930s. The company, based on St Martin’s Lane in the early 20th century, branded the antique pieces sold through their store with an ivorine Spillman & Co emblem as we see inside the drawer here.

Of uncommon proportions, and a table that would work well as a television stand or similar.
