The fireside smokers chair in the wingback shape on mahogany legs with the original castors upholstered in the original Regency inspired powder blue corduroy velvet with off white taffeta ribbon detailing.
The condition is clean and sound with no restoration or repair needed or required, the upholstery is slightly tired and partly faded, though no more than nicely worn in, with one or two very small areas of wear with the legs strong and the castors original.
The original purpose of the flared wings in wing backed armchairs were understood to be to prevent drafts in old houses from reaching ones upper body or to protect the delicate skin of gentrified ladies from the heat of a roaring fire.
