A Good Walnut George II Chest of Drawers, Formerly a Chest on Stand c.1730-50

The walnut and oak carcass of superior colour with a moulded cornice above an arrangement of two short and four long graduated feather-banded drawers, with paneled sides, having near period brass drop handles and later feet, survives from George II period England.
The chest shows some rather attractive wear and tear with scuffing commensurate with its age, the drawers all running smoothly and the carcass structurally sound. The handles are near period but slightly later as are the feet (this being the top of a chest on chest or stand). The top has been replaced at some stage in the 20thC. The front and paneled sides both show a healthy patination and beautiful character to the walnut and oak.
A piece of proper English period furniture with a visually apparent story, and we like those.
