The Colour offset and letterpress poster by Joy Simpson, whimsically illustrating a myriad of historical artwork and treasures, the whole advertising a new free leaflet on Local Museums and the free booklet 'Museums and Art Galleries', issued by the London Transport Board, 1968.

Condition is very good; there is some light creasing and crinkling where the poster has been folded prior to being framed, and the two lower corners are more light saturated but there are no tears or holes. The poster is presented in a large simple frame and glazed ready to hang.

Printed by Leonard Ripley & Company Ltd, this London firm was founded in the 1920s and since the 1940s has specialised in printing large lithographic posters. By 1974 it had become part of the Lion International Group.

‘Local museums are treasure houses’ the poster proclaims, we couldn’t agree more. What a wonderfully decorative way to celebrate them.
