The attractive pair of painted softwood lamps in barley twist form, each on square cast metal plinth bases and showing beautiful patination and wear to the turquoise painted surfaces, the twists being early twentieth century in origin and then married to the bases to form unique lights.

The lamps currently have French plugs as these lamps were last purchased in Pairs some 25 years ago. The paintwork is nicely time-worn with age giving a mottle or marbled effect and the metal is in good order. There are no damages to speak of and the shades will be provided.

The barley twist motif originated in the 17th century. It was often used on chairs, tables, and other pieces of furniture. The design became popular again in the 19th century and has continued to be a popular choice for furniture design ever since.

A very decorative pair of lamps able to sit well in both contemporary and more traditional settings.
