SOLD

Origin: English
Period: Twentieth Century
Provenance: Unknown
Date: c.1970
Height: 22 inches
Width: 30.5 inches

A large reproduction advertising board for Adnams, depicting the Southwold brewery, with horses and barrel-laden carts in the foreground, the chimneys spouting smoke, and a union jack flying above the blue roofed buildings. An inset view of the back of the brewery is in the lower left corner.

The sign is captioned 'Adnams & Co. Ltd, Sole Bay Brewery. Brewers and Maltsters, Wine and Spirit Importers, Celebrated Suffolk Ales and Stout'.In 1872 George and Ernest Adnams bought the Sole Bay Brewery, and thus founded the Adnams brewery. George, however, soon found that he was not cut out for country life and in 1880 emigrated to South Africa, where he met an unfortunate demise in the jaws of a crocodile. After steady growth and success throughout the twentieth century, Adnams remains a family brewery based in Southwold, Suffolk, to this day.

A piece such as this would fit wonderfully well into a kitchen or cellar to name but two. There is no glass present, but this could of course be added.
