Of architectural form and Edwardian in style, this frame was crafted by Broadway & Co. in the same year as the hostilities with Germany came to an end in 1918 during the dominion of George V.

Broadway and Co, were founded in the reign of Queen Victoria by William Benjamin Broadway, a highly skilled die - sinker. They are still active at Shady Lane, Kingstanding, in Birmingham today.

The silver has been slightly over polished though without retracting from the whole and the original glazing and silk remains in tact, as does the ebony rear door. The stand is relatively loose but still sound and the hallmarks are discernible.

This is a high quality frame and certainly one with which to capture a cherished image in tremendous fashion.
