The solid mahogany Georgian period open desk or library elbow chair in the French Hepplewhite taste, upholstered in rich racing green leather, having carved and fluted arms and oval back, shaped elbows, unusual leaf carved mouldings to upper arms, the whole raised on turned tapering front and rear sabre legs headed by floral paterae.

The chair is in lovely original condition making it hugely appealing. The leather is worn but appealingly so, now wonderfully supple, the green in places turned to a glowing chestnut. There is a small tear to the reverse oval panel. The mahogany has a simply outstanding patina and colour whilst the chair benefits from its webbing having recently been refreshed.

Beautifully proportioned this is a truly handsome chair of the highest quality; elegant yet comfortable, sturdy yet dainty.
