The gilt and gesso frame with stylised tendril borders and scrolling foliate cresting flanking marginal plates in the Louis XV style with the original heavy plate glass survives from nineteenth century Italy.

The mirror is in very attractive condition. The frame and back boarding are as should be, the original plate glass has some attractive areas of foxing mainly to marginal plates, and the main central plate is relatively clear (possibly slightly later). The lower marginal plate has a crack to it. The gilding as a whole has areas of wear with very small areas of chipping and one section of loss to the moulding and one section of repair. The chipping is mainly to the more protruding parts but in general it has survived rather well and its mellow aged condition is part of its appeal.

There is a label to the reverse ‘1 Mirror LXIX’ and a pencil notation ‘right of window’. LXIX could possibly be referring to King Louis XIX (1830) of France.
