Having French grey coloured paint over the oak carcass, now beautifully flaked, each runner with its original iron work rail, the front with its original pulley rope, the sledge surviving from the second quarter of the twentieth century.

The sledge is in useable order and is in a good original state. There are bumps scratches and pitting commensurate with its use.

Modern sledding began in St Moritz during the early 1870s when British visitors with more time than activities began to experiment and play around with boys' delivery sleds for recreation at the dawn of winter resorting in winter climes.

This could be used on the slopes quite comfortably, but we get the feeling its decorative pull may just be too strong and it will remain in doors, adding a huge amount of charm to any interior.
