Of desirable roomy proportions and being very decorative, the late nineteenth century painted pine chest of drawers or commode in the Empire style and in a later distressed painted finish in aged white with charcoal being used to pick out the feet, moulding and top; the whole comprising of three short and two graduated long drawers, each with lion mask drop ring handles flanked by Corinthian capital pilasters and standing on stylised reeded lions paw feet.

We have given the chest some remedial work so that the drawers glide smoothly, and the whole is sturdy and in good original order. It has the advantage that the central three drawers all have a working lock and key.

A piece that not only offers useful and generous storage but also provides a great decorative look.
