The ellipse shaped painted enamel railways sign, in peacock blue lettering to an ivory ground reading ‘Please Leave This Lavatory As You Would Wish to Find It’ in capital lettering, and surviving from the first quarter of twentieth century England.

In good overall order, the sign has some restoration to the edges as photographed. The two original holes remain for door or wall mounting.

This sign would have been mounted to the toilet door in a station and we cannot find another comparable example on or offline. There have been countless reproductions of this kind of sign throughout the 21st century.

An extremely rare original sign that raises a smile and one that can still be used to good effect today.
