Hand Knotted 100% Wool Pile
Length: 200 cms / 6.5 feet
Width: 124 cms / 4 feet
Having a three wide bordered design with small central field, the geometric design features rich colours with small rosettes and medallions amongst a lustrous pile. The condition is excellent save for one corner segment of fringe having some loss.
This splendid rug was hand knotted by Yoruk's semi-nomadic tribes in the Taurus mountains near Antalya, Turkey, where the climate can turn cold amongst the mountains. Dosemealti rugs feature thick pile, vivid colors such as blue, green and red and always use geometrical patterns or animal designs such as camels and scorpions.
There are over twenty villages located in the mountains with two prominent tribes, the Karakoyunlu and Sarikecili nomads, both responsible for these dramatic Dosemealti pieces.
Soft and pliable, this example would serve to add extra warmth and comfort to the coldest of rooms.
