Three ceramic white glazed medical jars with knopped lids. Each jar has a curious marbled quality to the glaze, probably due to some previous contact with a chemical of some kind, otherwise the three are in fine condition.
White glazed jars such as these have been used for centuries for medical purposes and were used by apothecaries for the storage of powders, oils, ointments, bandages, and syrups; other similar jars, with holes in the lids, were used for leeches.
