The large boudoir doll with plush covered face and painted features, inset lashes, blonde floss silk hair set in curled platted style, having carved wood and composition plaster lower limb sections with gold painted high heel shoes and delicately carved arms having the original golden apricot and pink silk dropped waist dress with asymmetrical hemline and multi-coloured beading, wearing a faux-pearl necklace and surviving from the first quarter of the twentieth century.

The condition of the doll is generally in original order, the costume is slightly tired as one would expect but is completely original with some discolouration to parts but does not suffer from loss or damage with only some bluntness to the nose and some widening at the eyes. There is paint flecked loss to the limbs as pictured.

Impressionistic of seductive, long-limbed ladies, boudoir dolls were produced mainly in France and Spain between 1920 and 1930. Unlike most dolls they were made to be placed on beds and in boudoirs. The dolls today are sought after because of their classic artistic styling and, often, their art deco look.

Wonderfully chic, beautifully realised, distinctively French.
