The early nineteenth century oval wall mirror of generous proportions having a gesso and giltwood frame with the original mirror plate in ten segments, the central oval glass surrounded by a ribbon moulded border and a further eight sections surrounded by gadrooning, the whole with a good patination and colour, surviving from early Regency period England.

The mirror is in very attractive, original and decorative condition. She has her all original plate glass throughout which has overall clouding. There is some over-painting to the frame and a handful of small losses. She has a paper covered back and the original pine backing boards in tact. There are brackets for wall mounting and also wire verso for the same purpose.

This appealing sectional style was revived in the Edwardian period so one sees examples of that vintage but much less commonly examples of this age. The size of this example and the utterly originality is particularly enthralling.

One of the most decorative and beautiful mirrors you are ever likely to see.
