The delightful twentieth century oil on canvas, painted in the naïve style, depicting two cats, one black and one white, with large eager eyes, both sat upon a rush seated side chair to a burgundy and umber painted wall with green cornice, the whole presented in a frame of the period and signed DD lower right.

The overall condition is un-tampered with and original with some craquelure apparent, as per the photographs. The frame is a bit flaky and has some small losses; it appears to be some sort of Bakelite imitating tortoise shell.

Executed with a real sense of proportion and the naïve, the picture has a beautiful balance and a sense of the high curiosity of the cats is beautifully well realised.

A playful and utterly charming painting for all of the cat lovers out there.
