From the stable of revered graphic designer Bruno Rehak, perhaps most famous his Planet of The Apes artwork, comes this German original poster for the tragic Coumbia pictures flick ' Bonjour Tristesse'.

Based on the novel by teenage author Francoise Sagan, this highly rated film stars the rather gorgeous Jean Seberg as Cecile, a spoiled young girl who lives with her playboy father (David Niven) on the French Riviera. When daddy's old flame Anne (Deborah Kerr) enters the picture, Cecile's world is thrown upside down.

The poster has been folded before being recently framed so there are some creases, (likely to eventually drop out) and some very light edge wear. It is now displayed in a quality glazed frame.

The evocative art work shows Jean Seberg as Cecile center with a tear to her eye trapped either side by her father's other relationships. This work powerfully and simply reflects how Cecile is caught up in a love triangle between her father and his lovers Elsa and Anne. Themes indicative in this artwork encapsulate jealousy, a flirtation with incest and the way relationships in a family unit can change. The lush and bright colours used in the artwork indicate Cecile's two disparate moods and also explain the picture's title. With its depiction of the vacuous lifestyle of the rich, “Bonjour Tristesse” was ahead of it time.

This is a dramatic and bold piece of vintage artwork, sure to appreciate in value, and one that could fill a very large space with stylish consequences.
