Of a rich deep cobalt colour bearing an original green glass square stopper with painted gilt label ‘P.RHEI” for powder of Rhubarb.
The condition is very good with the label in superb order and the glass in good order, the stopper is currently jammed but could be released if desired.
Aiding digestive functions, this powder is an invaluable remedy in diarrhoea, cholera morbus, dysentery, summer complaint of children, acidity of stomach, heartburn, and as a mild cathartic during pregnancy. Cobalt bottles, if not used in apothecary, would have most likely contained poison, snuff or magnesia.
A rare cobalt bottle, in good condition, appealing to the collector or to those who seek an original decorative fix.
