A Good Quality George III Oak Armchair

SOLD

Origin: English
Period: George III
Provenance: Unknown
Date: c.1780
Height: 35 inches
Width: 22 inches
Depth: 17.5 inches (all at maximum)

Having a shaped curved seat and arms, curved top rail with a three spindle pierced back splat and moulded legs united by four stretchers, the front stretcher shaped with age.

With an excellent rich colour the chair is very stable and there is little to no signs of movement in the joints. There have been two old repairs, probably in the Victorian era, which are good honest repairs, only having a slight impact on the robustness of the piece.

A superb example of Georgian furniture, extremely well made, yet simple, and a classic design that would serve well for many a year to come.
