The stunning large and vibrant earthenware model of a tiger, painted and glazed in white with russet and black markings, sitting snarling and resplendent with his teeth bared, having two impressed marks to the underside stamped ‘Made in Italy’ and surviving from mid-century Italy.

The tiger is presented in very good overall condition, with wear commensurate with age to the glaze and paintwork; please view the photographs for a full visual reference. There are no losses, cracks or chips aside from some small chipped loss to one of the top incisor teeth.

Hand executed by a talented Italian artist, models of this type were made in Italy by realist ceramicists in the 1960s and 70s, with some coming out of studios such as Lenci.
