A Pretty Early Victorian Ash & Elm Child's Windsor Chair

SOLD

Origin: English
Period: Victorian
Provenance: Unknown
Date: c.1850
Height: 30 inches
Width: 20.5 inches
Depth: 16 inches (all at maximum)

Having a shaped seat and arms, eight-spindled hoop back, with turned front legs united by an H-stretcher.

The chair has a rich and colourful patina but the condition is only fair to good, with a quantity of old worm, and a handful of old repairs. Some joints have a small amount of movement but the chair remains stable and operative. The colour is superb particulary to the burr elm seat.

This is a charming farmhouse example that could be used to decorate and add evocative appeal to a nursery or any neglected corner.
