A Pretty Oil on Canvas of a Still Life Study of Flowers by M Clifford

Origin: English
Period: Late Nineteenth Century / Early Twentieth Century
Provenance: Unknown
Date: c.1890-1900
Canvas Height: 15.5 inches
Canvas Width: 20 inches
The Whole: 25.5 X 21.5 inches
Depth: 1.75 inches

Painted in oils on canvas depicting a still life of mixed flowers in scarlets and sunshine oranges, upon a chalky ground, the posy bunched in a white porcelain vase sat on a ledge, the whole presented in its original thick gilt wood frame.

The painting is signed ‘M Clifford’ bottom right and has some wear to its surface. It could be cleaned if so desired. There are small areas of loss to the frame.

The composition has a subdued feel due to the pastel shades used in the background, the contrast of the flowers giving the picture its impact.

An inexpensive way to fill a wall with botanical beauties.
