SOLD
Origin: French
Period: Restauration / 2nd Empire
Provenance: Unknown
Date: c.1820-40
Height: 4 inches
The bronze cast finial, well modelled as a mermaid on a concave socle base, probably once a finial from a fine French mantle clock.
Generally in good condition, she has expected wear and a lovely green tinted patination that comes with all good old bronzes. We mention that she is probably a finial from a mantle clock simply because she was found with a threaded pin in the base with a bell on the other end, that one would associate with a striking French mantle clock. We will provide this part with her upon sale.
Wonderfully tactile, we challenge you not to pick her up.
