Of desirable proportions and being very decorative, the late Victorian painted pine chest in buff cream paint with an earlier green undercoat, comprising of two short and two graduated long drawers, each with ebonised knob handles and standing on turned bun feet.

We have given the chest some remedial work so that the drawers glide smoothly, and the whole is sturdy and in good original order. The cream paint is likely early twentieth century with the green shade underneath being Victorian. The flanks are two colours as photographed. The backboards are all original.

The top of the chest has a very interesting and decorative colour and texture with traces of line decoration and fleur-de-leys cornering.

A chest with a chequered past and one all the better for it.
