The ceremonial carved wood dance mask having a domed oval face with slit eyes, long aquiline nose and mouth, polychrome covered with an ebony and ivory pigment, surmounted with pecking bird headdress.

The mask is in superb overall order with only small scuffs and softened wear to edgings commensurate with age. There are the usual drilled holes the ear areas for face attachment.

Similar to a Baule or a Dan tribe masks this mask was carved with crude tools but even so the work is wonderful and the mask has a happy and warm aura.

Versatile in its use, a mask like this one adds welcome warm gusts of the exotic to any interior.
