The well depicted three-quarter length portrait of a lady; painted in oils on canvas:, the sitter wearing a laced dress, with a pretty and amicable face and rose tinted cheeks, wearing earrings and with her hair tied very much in the style of the period,  the whole on a viridian green coloured ground, presented unframed, and surviving from 1830s southern France or northern Spain.

The picture is in un-restored condition and we love it as it is. It has had a clean recently but has otherwise been left untouched. There are some areas of thinning to the canvas, and as a whole it is thin, please refer to the photographs for a visual reference. There are patched repairs visible verso.

The sitters curls to her hair indicate that she may well be northern Spanish rather than southern French, though the style of dress and execution of the painting is very much of the 1830s.

A beautifully serene portrait.
